Who We Are
On April 1st 1982, Dan Wieden and David Kennedy started an ad agency in Portland, Oregon, with one client, a small athletic wear company called Nike. A decade later Nike was one of the most famous brands in the world and Wieden+Kennedy was one of the most respected agencies in the industry, thanks to some iconic work and what is often cited as the best advertising slogan of all time: Just Do It.
Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam opened in the summer of 1992 to service Nike's European business. We produced work for the local markets as well as pan-European and global campaigns. We won exciting new clients and we grew from some ten employees to our current tally of about 150, representing 25 different nationalities.
As big as we've become, we are still entirely independent. Nobody owns us, there are no shareholders pulling our strings. It's all about the work, baby.
Now watch Dan Wieden talk about the importance of creativity.
