It's all about the green

Adam Scott Paul was caught wearing a fetching green lycra outfit, in the courtyard, yesterday. Practising to be a super-hero? Pretending to be a dragon? Nope, he's looking this silly for the greater good.

"We're working on an Electronic Arts interactive project", Mark Sloan tells us. "Adam fought for the right to wear a skin-tight all-in-one body suit. He became quite savage."

It's all about the green, apparently. Shame it's so baggy about the knees.

The Facial Hair Debate: does a moustache make you more creative?

Every now and then your attention is drawn to something that warms your heart. This week it's facial hair. You see, we've got two young bucks in our midst with a lot of it. And it's internationally renowned to boot.

Jes 'Baron Von' Cron and Adam Scott Paul are visiting us from LA for a few months, to add some moustachio'd chutzpah to our interactive projects with Electronic Arts. Was it Wieden+Kennedy who lured them across the water to Europe? Was it heck.

"We were in Brighton for the World Beard & Moustache Championships anyway", explains Jes, looking dapper with his Imperial moustache (4th place). "Getting a call from Amsterdam was a lucky coincidence".

Adam, a later starter to the whole beardy growth obsession, sports the English variety (also 4th place).

You can see more photos of the guys at Elsden Images. If you're looking for more inspiration on why to throw out your razor, then check out the winners at this year's World Beard & Moustache Championships.

Apparently, stick-on 'taches don't count.

The Tate is only a stones throw away...thank god!

Global Cities looks at the changing faces of ten dynamic international cities: Cairo, Istanbul, Johannesburg, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Mumbai, São Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo.

Exploring each city through five thematic lenses – speed, size, density, diversity and form – the exhibition draws on data originally assembled for the 10th International Architecture Exhibition at the 2006 Venice Biennale. This unique show presents existing films, videos and photographs by more than 20 artists and architects to offer subjective and intimate interpretations of urban conditions in all ten cities.

As Global Cities takes place in one of the focus cities, the exhibition uses London as a touchstone for comparison. New commissions by a group of six artists and architects – Nigel Coates; Zaha Hadid & Patrik Schumacher; Fritz Haeg; OMA*AMO/Rem Koolhaas; Nils Norman; and Richard Wentworth – explore the local context through issues such as sustainability, public space and social inclusion.

Inspiration

Inspiration can come from a lot of different places.  In this case, Franklin Groen has mixed a song based on a 5-second voicemail left by Joakim Borgstrom (Jab)...

(Please excuse the video.  We don't know how to post audio tracks to YouTube)

Dance Dave Revolution

New account guy Dave shows us his remarkable technique for dealing with clients. "We're behind schedule but WATCH MY FEET!! Sign off this overage and WATCH MY FEET!! WHOOOOO!!"

Powdered booze

Dutch students have invented powdered booze. Just add water and it becomes a bubbly, lime-flavoured drink with 3% alcohol. And it can be legally marketed to children. Wait, what? If there's any students who can come up with a spec campaign for this product we'd love to see it.

Ads are not films, apparently

Somebody at Adrants has got his knickers in a twist over the way ad people refer to commercials as 'films'. And he uses our recent press release for the Nike+ work as an example. To summarise the piece:

"Blah blah blah blah blah (and your latest work for Nike certainly is beautiful) blah blah blah blah blah."

Aw, thanks.

Not like that, like THIS

It can be difficult to explain to a visualiser exactly how you want a storyboard to look. Sometimes you just have to act it out. Craig, Mikey and Eric give it the full method here while the visualiser quietly writes her shopping list.

Another birthday

Our managing director Tim O'Kennedy and his wife just had a baby boy, their second. No word yet on the name. With respect to the piece below, how about Apple II O'Kennedy? No? Suit yourself.
